During a routine monthly closure, Ventia successfully resurfaced the Cooks River Tunnel Eastbound. This 400m tunnel under Cooks River is an integral part of the M5 East Motorway and inspection of the pavement quality takes place regularly to ensure safety of motorway users.

Based on these inspections, resurfacing was proposed as a method to ensure the pavement quality remain at an above satisfactory standard. The exercise was carried out by external contractors and involved a general resurfacing process.

At the commencement of the activity, the existing asphalt was milled; Once complete, a primer was applied and the new asphalt was laid. This was a very well organised project and a great success. It is our goal at the M5 East to maintain high standards of maintenance to ensure that all assets throughout the motorway are in suitable condition.
