Maintenance Update – APRIL 2016

The M5 East Motorway was closed for scheduled, essential night time maintenance work from the 10th – 13th April. During this closure period, Ventia, on behalf NSW Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) completed all planned, preventative and corrective works as part of the extensive Motorway maintenance program. The activities carried out during the April closure period included:

  • Inspection and maintenance of cable trays
  • Inspection and maintenance of block wall
  • Inspection and maintenance of retaining walls
  • Inspection and maintenance of bridge scuppers
  • Inspection and maintenance of overheight barriers
  • Inspection and maintenance of emergency walkways
  • Inspection and maintenance of vehicle crossover bollards
  • Inspection and maintenance of Duff St air supply building
  • Inspection and maintenance of fire pumping station storage tank
  • Inspection and maintenance of pH and hydrocarbons sensors
  • Inspection and cleaning of tunnel pit covers and spoon drains
  • Electrical substation cleaning
  • Landscaping, including batter grass cutting, tree trimming and litter collection
  • Air-conditioning inspections and maintenance (cross-passages and tunnel)
  • Tunnel lighting inspection/repairs/maintenance
  • Tunnel wall panel and trash rack cleaning
  • Heavy Vehicle Inspection Bay cleaning
  • CCTV repairs and cleaning
  • Communication system fault repairs

Project work conducted during the period included:

  • Tunnel jet fan refurbishment works
  • Works for Supply Fan Refurbishment Program at Duff St
